Restaurant Guide

One of our favorite things to do is eat out. Buenos Aires is a fantastic place to do just that. Here is a list of restaurants that we have tried, separated by cuisine, along with recommendations and opinions. This list will grow as we will certainly keep trying new places. 

Price Guide: I use dollar signs "$" to signify the general price of each restaurant.  This is based on our normal order of 1 drink, an appetizer and 1 entree per person. The rating has $ as the cheapest meal and $$$$$ as the most expensive.

American

• be Frika esq. Junin & French, Recoleta: 4821-0010 - Great mini-burgers. Very Good. $$
• Buller Brewing Company Roberto M. Ortiz 1827, Recoleta - Microbrewery, good beer, mediocre food and service.  Okay.  $$
• Casa Bar Rodriguez Peña 1150, Recoleta - American-style sports bar, great TVs, mediocre food & drinks.  Okay.  $$
• iCentral Market esq. Pierina Dealessi y Macacha Güemes, Puerto Madero: 11-5775-0330 - American breakfast and high quality lunch/dinner menu.  Very Good.  $$$$
• New York, New York Resto Bar Fitz Roy 2192, Palermo, 4776-6118: Good food, terrible service.  Do Not Recommend. $$$
• Tucson Pueyrredon 2501, Recoleta - An American steakhouse complete with big salads and spinach dip.  Okay.  $$$

Argentinean Gourmet

• Dada Bistro San Martin 941, Retiro: 4314-4787 - Outstanding food, cool atmosphere, beer on tap, great casual option.  Highly Recommend. $$
• El Baqueano Chile Nº 495, San Telmo: 4342-0802 - Interesting and tasty food, multi-step set menu with or without wine pairing.  Highly Recommend. $$$
• Las Pizarras Bistro Thames 2296, Palermo: 4775-0625 - Delicious and interesting options. Menu changes daily.  Highly Recommend. $$$
• One Table Inside the Hotel Fierro, Soler 5862, Palermo, 3220-6820 - Multi-step menu with all guests seated at 'one table'.  Delicious food, great presentation.  Monday nights only, reservations required.  Highly Recommend. $$
• Puratierra 3 de Febrero 1167, Belgrano, +54 (11) 4899 2007 - Well priced unique dishes, looks as good as it tastes.  Highly Recommend. $$$
• Tegui Costa Rica 5852, Palermo Hollywood - Gourmet eclectic food, unique building. Recommend. $$$$$
• Unik Soler 5132: 4772-2230, Palermo Soho - Great ambiance, interesting decor and delicious food. Highly Recommend. $$

Asian

• Astrid & Gaston Lafinur 3222, Palermo: 4802-2991- Peruvian/Asian fusion.  Unique dishes, great ambiance, good food.  Recommend. $$$$
• Benihana Arenales 3310, Palermo - Japanese steakhouse, sushi.  Recommend.  $$$
• Casa Mun www.casamun.com/, Palermo Moved to Mendoza! - Closed door restaurant based on Asian flavors.  Great ambiance and on-point wine pairings.
• Jardin Japones Ave. Casares 2966, Palermo - Sushi and traditional Japanese dishes, exotic tea.  Okay.  $$$
• Lotus neo Thai Arribenos 2265, Barrio Chino - Okay. $
• M Balcarce 433, San Telmo: 4342-4189 - Asian/Peruvian fusion, more Asian than Peruvian. Interesting drink menu, great ambiance, decent food. Okay. $$$$
• Osaka Solar 5608, Palermo: 4775-6964 - Asian/Peruvian fusion, sushi.  Highly Recommend. $$$$$

• Liber Av del Libertador 690, Recoleta - Pastas, pizzas, salads, sandwiches, etc. Highly Recommend. $$

Eclectic

• 878 Bar Thames 878, Palermo Soho - Small, unique menu, interesting cocktails, great sandwiches, SLOW service.  Recommend.  $$
• Casa SaltShaker www.casasaltshaker.com, Recoleta - Closed door restaurant, unique menu each night.  Recommend.  $$$
• El Burladero Uriburu 1488, Recoleta: 4806-9247 - Spanish cuisine with tap beer and good seafood options. Highly Recommend. $$$
• Gran Bar Danzon Libertad 1161, Recoleta - Sushi, unique dishes. Recommend. $$$
• Olsen Gorriti 5870, Palermo: 4776-7677 - Cool atmosphere, great outdoor seating.  Great food, mediocre dessert, great cocktail and wine list. Recommend. $$$$
• Oviedo Beruti 2602, Recoleta: 4821-3741 - Seafood, pasta and meat items.  Great ceviche. Recommend. $$$
• Sirop Vincente Lopez 166 Pesaje del Correo 11, Recoleta - Small, unique, menu with delicious ravioli and steak, great wine list. Recommend. $$$

Italian 

• Broccolino Esmeralda 776, Retiro - Pastas and pizzas, great calamari. Recommend. $$
• Il Novo Maria Del Lujan Paseo Victorica 611, Tigre (17 miles north of BsAs) - Pasta and enormous steaks. Recommend. $$$
• La Parolaccia Riobamba 1046, Barrio Norte - Pastas and Italian meat dishes, great bruscetta.  Recommend.  $$$$
• Morelia Baez 260, Las Canitas - Pizza and pasta. Recommend.  $$
• Sette Bacco Aguero 2157, Recoleta - Meat and pasta dishes.  Recommend.  $$$
• Sorrento Posadas 1053, Recoleta - Pasta and Italian dishes.  Good Not Great.  $$$
• Sottovoce Libertador 1098, Recoleta - Pasta and traditional Italian dishes.  Highly Recommend. $$$

Mexican

• California Burrito Company Lavalle 441, Centro - Mexican Chipotle-style fast food.  Recommend.  $
• El Salto de las Ranas Rodriguez Peña 1169, Recoleta - Mexican dishes and parilla.  Okay. $$
• Lupita Baez 227, Las Canitas - Decent Mexican. A great place to go on a summer night. Recommend. $$$

Steak/Parilla

• El Mirasol Posadas 1032, Recoleta: 4326-7322 - Typical Argentine cuisine, meat and a selection of side dishes.  Recommend. $$$
• Fervor Posadas 1519 - Steak, excellent seafood, Argentine cuisine.  Highly Recommend.  $$$$ 
• La Cabrera Cabrera 5099, Palermo Viejo: 4832-5754 - Enormous, delicious steaks, reservations necessary. Recommend.  $$$
• Las Nazarenas Reconquista 1132, Retiro - Steak and other meat.  Okay.  $$$ 
• Marshall Juramento 1301, Belgrano - Good Food, So/So Service. Okay. $$
• Valparaiso Nicaragua 6078, Palermo - Chilean seafood and steak. Do Not Recommend. $$$

Dessert/Postres

• Arkakao Quintana 188, Recoleta: 4813-7585 - Best ice cream on the planet.  For real. $$$$
• Vasalissa Ave Callao 1940, Recoleta - Chocolatier, delicious chocolate and candy pieces.  $$$$
